The “Entre Châtaigne et Micocoule” Regional Health Professional Community is organizing a public information session on radon on Monday, November 23, 2026, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., in the Stevenson Hall in Saint-Jean-du-Gard. The event is free and open to the public, in partnership with the CPIE du Gard and as part of the “Bons Réflexes en santé en Occitanie” program led by the ARS Occitanie.
The speakers explain what this naturally occurring, invisible, and odorless radioactive gas is, how it enters homes, and what risks prolonged exposure poses. The CPIE of Gard then explains how to measure radon levels at home, effective ventilation practices, and technical solutions for reducing radon concentrations.
About 20 municipalities in the area have high radon levels. Measurement kits are distributed free of charge at the end of the evening to eligible participants.
