On Monday, December 14, 2026, the INRS will host an online event for the magazine *Travail & Sécurité* focused on respiratory protection equipment.
When collective protection measures—source control, ventilation, and substitution—are no longer sufficient to reduce exposure to an acceptable level, respiratory protection becomes the last line of defense against chemical and biological hazards. However, it is still necessary to choose the right equipment from among the available masks, hoods, and helmets, and to ensure that it actually provides protection once worn.
This session covers selection criteria based on the type of pollutant and the workstation, as well as the conditions of use that determine the actual effectiveness of the protection. This topic lies at the intersection of occupational air quality and risk prevention.
