FHU RESPIRE
Who we are:
The FHU RESPIRE aims to strengthen hospital-university-research unit relations within the North-West inter-region, in order to stimulate medical research on the theme of respiratory health and improve the quality of care through more rapid dissemination of innovations.
What we do:
The aim of the FHU RESPIRE is to improve respiratory health through an integrated approach that takes into account host characteristics from childhood onwards (immune response to aggression, microbiome, respiratory comorbidities), the environment, pathogens and their interactions at the pulmonary level.
More specifically, the objectives of FHU RESPIRE are to :
- Create and amplify a synergy of collaborations between the various members of the FHU in order to meet the major challenges of personalized medicine and technological developments,
- Assess the impact of air pollution, pesticides, toxic agents and antimicrobials on inflammation and the host's immune response (and its microbiota),
- Molecular and functional characterization of the main respiratory pathogens (bacteria, viruses, micromycetes, multi-resistant or not) in the regional context,
- Evaluate the impact of the environment on inflammatory pulmonary pathologies using cohorts (bronchiectasis, asthma, cystic fibrosis, COPD, bronchiolitis), with the particular aim of identifying biomarkers of evolution or predictive of infection,
- Design and evaluate new therapeutic molecules (screening of chemical libraries, de novo synthesis), improve the use of existing molecules (repositioning) and test their toxicity towards host cells,
- Communicate with the scientific community, all healthcare professionals and the general public on the subject.
