The Institut national de l’environnement industriel et des risques (Ineris) is a public industrial and commercial establishment (EPIC) under the supervision of the French Ministry of the Environment.

It conducts research programs aimed at gaining a better understanding of the phenomena likely to lead to risk situations or damage to the environment and health, and developing its expertise in prevention.
It is developing its scientific and technical skills in the fields of accidental risks, chronic risks and soil and subsoil risks.
They are made available to public authorities, companies and local communities to help them make the most appropriate decisions for improving environmental safety.
