In partnership with theAssociation des Maires de France, Mutualité Française des Hauts-de-France is organizing this free webinar on October 21 from 10:00 am to 12:15 pm, aimed at mayors, elected representatives and employees of town halls and local authorities.
A growing body of public health data demonstrates the impact of the environment on health, particularly for the most vulnerable: environmental degradation not only leads to a deterioration in quality of life and well-being, but can also contribute to the development of various pathologies: poisoning, cancer, cardiovascular or respiratory diseases, allergies...
Epidemiological studies highlight the emergence of new risks associated with technological development (endocrine disruptors, CMRs, nanoparticles, etc.) and agree that environmental pollutants are an additional factor to be taken into account in the emergence and development of chronic diseases. In France, Santé publique France estimates that between 5% and 10% of cancers are linked to environmental factors.
In response, national and regional plans have been devised to protect the population from these emerging risks (PRSE, Stratégie Nationale de lutte contre les Perturbateurs endocriniens, PCAET, etc.). Cities and local authorities are an essential level for action: they have a wide range of competencies and are in direct contact with people's daily lives. As such, they have considerable scope for action to reduce people's exposure.
However, integrating the environmental dimension into health policy can be a complex task: how can national strategies be translated locally? What actions and target groups should be prioritized? With what resources? What levers can be used to protect the population from pollutants such as endocrine disruptors?
