As it does every year, the ÎSÉE network, created in 2019 as part of PRSE3, is organizing its colloquium-event. This year, the network has joined forces with VetAgro Sup, Dim1health, INRAE's UMR Sadapt and Ekopolis for a day of reflection on the territorial application of the "One Health" approach.
The slogan "One Health", developed back in the 2000s, proposes a collaborative, multi-sectoral and transdisciplinary approach to health issues "while recognizing the interconnections between people, animals, plants and their shared environment" (One Health Commission, 2019). The One Health approach therefore seeks, on the one hand, to improve knowledge of the relationships between animal health, human health and the state of socio-ecosystems and, on the other, to implement actions designed to transform the field of public health, which has traditionally focused on the health of populations.
In France, the fourth National Environmental Health Plan, published in May 2021, is part of this paradigm shift: "France [...] is committed to an integrated and unified approach to public, animal and environmental health around the concept of 'One Health'" (PNSE4, 2021).
Over and above the strong incentive to move beyond the compartmentalized management of public policies, at local level and particularly in the Paris Region, how can local players make this watchword their own and contribute to "One health"?
Actors from the worlds of ecology, social sciences, human and animal health, local authorities and representatives of civil society will come together on Wednesday December 15 to present inspiring local initiatives, discuss their replicability and provide answers to the following questions:
- What kind of regional organization is needed to ensure that local policies are part of a "One Health" approach?
- How can the region contribute to improving knowledge of the interactions between animal and human health and ecosystem functioning?
- How can we raise awareness, train and support local professionals?
- What contributions can be made by citizens, the central partners in the "one health" approach?
Wednesday, December 15, 2021 from 9am to 5pm
