APPA
The Association pour la Prévention de la Pollution Atmosphérique (Association for the Prevention of Atmospheric Pollution) was created in 1958 and recognized as a public utility in 1962.
APPA is involved in all issues relating to air quality, both outdoors and indoors, from the global to the local level: climate change, urban and industrial pollution, pollen-related allergic risks, carbon monoxide poisoning, the domestic environment...
APPA is a national association with a regional base through its regional committees. The Association mobilizes a network of volunteers from a variety of professional backgrounds and disciplines (chemists, climatologists, doctors, pharmacists, sociologists, etc.).
APPA conducts a scientific watch in the various thematic fields concerned by air pollution, and disseminates the results of this watch to institutions, professionals in different sectors and the general public. APPA's multi-disciplinary network of experts checks and validates this information. In various regions, APPA provides training courses to enhance the skills of those involved.
By supporting local players from a wide range of backgrounds, APPA is also able to highlight needs and identify and promote local initiatives that can be duplicated or transferred to other regions, thereby promoting the exchange of best practices and the networking of players. At both national and regional level, APPA volunteers and employees contribute to the development and monitoring of public policies in the fields of the environment, climate and public health.
Lastly, APPA compiles, creates and makes available to professionals and the general public a large number of resources, both online and through the organization of local events and discussion forums.
