Established in the heart of the Fos industrial-port zone in 2010, the Institut Ecocitoyen is a center for the study of the environment and the impact of pollution on health, with the aim of gaining a better understanding of the risks associated with human activities, particularly industrial and logistical.
Based on an approach involving citizens and scientists, integrating all natural environments and human health, the Institute's work is aimed at local players, with a view to reducing polluting emissions, adapting environmental monitoring to specific pollutants, and rehabilitating contaminated sites.
What we do:
The Institute's activities are organized around three main missions:
Develop knowledge of pollutants and their effects on the environment and health: reactivity, transfer and toxicity of pollutants.
Involve citizens in the process of identifying pollution problems, drawing up protocols and implementing studies.
Informing and stimulating debate on areas exposed to specific types of pollution.
