Who we are:
The Aerology Laboratory (Laero) conducts research into the physics and chemistry of the lower atmosphere in relation to natural and anthropogenic production, transport, interface flows, evolution and impact of gaseous and particulate chemical species, with more specific developments concerning ozone, nitrogen oxides, volatile organic compounds and carbonaceous aerosols.
What we do:
Research areas :
- The dynamic, thermodynamic and microphysical processes that govern the meteorological atmosphere, from the small scale (cloud convection or boundary layer) to that of synoptic disturbances, at mid-latitudes and in the tropics.
- The physico-chemistry of the troposphere and lower stratosphere, with the natural and anthropogenic production, transport, fluxes at interfaces, evolution and impact of gaseous and particulate chemical species, with more specific developments concerning ozone on the one hand, and nitrogen oxides, volatile organic compounds and carbonaceous aerosols on the other.
- Coastal oceanography in its dynamic aspects relating to general circulation, forcings and internal disturbances
- The teams' scientific activities are based on two complementary aspects: numerical modeling and observation, for which the Laboratoire d'Aérologie teams have nationally and internationally recognized skills.
Air-related research projects :
- BREATHE: Development of citizen metrology based on the collection of plants by determining the concentration of atmospheric pollutants and the origin of the pollution.
- APIMAMA: Finding solutions to reduce air pollution and health risks in African metropolises.
- COQAIR: Understanding Population Mobility for Better Air Quality
