AERIS
AERIS is the "Atmosphere" data hub of the DATA TERRA research infrastructure.
The AERIS atmospheric data and services cluster federates atmospheric data management and scientific expertise activities at national level. Created in 2014, it relies on four integrated and increasingly shared data and service centers.
Atmospheric research covers topics such as atmospheric dynamics, physics and chemistry. It also includes research into climate change. To carry out this research, the scientific community uses models as well as observations, whether obtained from the ground, satellites or airborne vehicles.
One of the challenges of this century is to make these data accessible to a large community, whether for research activities or commercial applications. To be useful, observational data must be calibrated, validated and homogenized. This is where AERIS comes in.
AERIS not only generates products based on observations, but also offers a wide range of services to support data use, campaign management and model interfacing.
It has positioned itself as a key player in the supply of data and services at both French and European level.
AERIS is built around four data centers (ESPRI, ICARE, SEDOO and SATMOS) with collective data management capabilities, involving around 40 people.
It also relies on centers of expertise and networks of laboratories, indispensable elements of a data hub for algorithmic development and prototyping.
